  1. This is excellent information on the Latin MSS, (side by side comparison), especially.

Thank you. I downloaded the PDF from archive.org.

    Thanks.

  3. Hi Edgar, I hear about a supposed quotation by Irenaeus in adversus heresis of 1 John 5:7 with the addition that is earlier of the priscilian quote, do you hear about it? What is the the view of scholars about about this? I can't find any information about it, thanks, and greetings.

  4. Hi Juan,

I don't know anything about the Comma appearing in Irenaeus. Westcott explicitly says that it's not in "Ir" (among other Greek writers), and I don't think R.E. Brown or Ehrman think it's in Irenaeus either. Recently a friend from Greece wrote a thesis on the Comma--I'm sure he would say that we cannot find this reading in Irenaeus.

There are blog entries on this site regarding the Comma. The link above from Westcott would be an excellent place to start. I would consult Metzger's textual commentary of the NT too.

  5. Juan,

    See also https://books.google.com/books?id=rYQrAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&dq=Kunstle,+Das+Comma+Johanneum&hl=en&sa=X&ei=XOBrVfTiK4vMsAX4z4OQAQ&ved=0CCgQ6AEwAjgK#v=onepage&q&f=false

A work in German that was viewed as landing the knockout blow to the Comma.
