No problem with that. The Didache supports the wording. I would like to see the shemtov text of the verse. There is another word in Hebrew for wickedness. As you know, some translations into english from greek use "the wicked one".

Yes, Howard did a lot of work on Shemtov and you're right that "wicked one" is normally how the substantival use of poneros is rendered.
ReplyDeleteSome have tried appealing to the Didache for support of the longer reading in Matt 6:13; however, I believe more evidence is available for the shorter reading.
