I guess we'll have to read Hawking's book to see his latest thoughts on gravity, but I know some years ago, Hawking proposed that "creation" occurred "without creation" since the universe's origin could be compared (purportedly) to the apex of cone, the figure of which is illustrated on page 66 of Paul Davies' work The Mind of God. But William Lane Craig and Paul Copan challenged this Hawking-Hartle model of the universe in their work on creation ex nihilo.
Yes, you are right we should read it. He should know that right now a physicist is now saying that gravity doesn't exist. So now Hawkins has another theory to worry about. It becomes evident that theories are nothing more than mere speculation even from a mind a sharp as Hawkins. If I was in his condition with the ALC I would find it difficult to believe in a creator to, even with all the proofs of his existence.
Ellery Schempp says gravity is not a fact it is a theory, I don't know if Ellery is a man or a woman, but they have thought seriously about gravity. Saying that there should not be 2 high tides, based on the effect of the moon,also these tides are on all sides of the planet. Continuing 2 high tides falsefy gravity. Ellery says a lot of interesting things about " the theory of Gravity. Look this up on a google search.
Wikipedia says professor Schempp received his Phd in "67". He has been around even longer than hawkins. and he is well known, He will make you think twice. Wonder what Hawkins thinks of his statement that Gravity is a theory.
After checking out the reviews for Hawking's new book and hearing interviews with the co-author on TV and radio, I believe that I'm going to pass on The Grand Design. I've read Brief History of Time and liked it, now I'm working my way through Brian Greene's book Fabric of the Cosmos and others. I'll just keep with those books since there is nothing new in Hawking's book and it is speculative as well as written at the popular level.
