ἔρως occurs two places in the Septuagint Version of the Bible (the LXX):
ἐλθὲ καὶ ἀπολαύσωμεν φιλίας ἕως ὄρθρου δεῦρο καὶ ἐγκυλισθῶμεν ἔρωτι (Proverbs 7:18)
α(ι)δης και ερως γυναικος και ταρταρος και γη ουκ εμπιπλαμενη υδατος και υδωρ και πυρ ου μη ειπωσιν αρκει (Proverbs 30:16)
Interesting that it appears in the same book too.
Although the Greek word is only used twice by the translators, it seems that the concept is a familiar one in the Hebrew Bible.

I agree that there are variants in the LXX as Rahlfs and others have documented. So your point is taken. But I don't think you'll generally find these readings in the critical texts for the Septuaginta.
For example, here's 2 Chron 19:2 from academic-bible.com:
καὶ ἐξῆλθεν εἰς ἀπάντησιν αὐτοῦ Ιου ὁ τοῦ Ανανι ὁ προφήτης καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Βασιλεῦ Ιωσαφατ, εἰ ἁμαρτωλῷ σὺ βοηθεῖς ἢ μισουμένῳ ὑπὸ κυρίου φιλιάζεις; διὰ τοῦτο ἐγένετο ἐπὶ σὲ ὀργὴ παρὰ κυρίου·
Here's Prov 5:19:
ἔλαφος φιλίας καὶ πῶλος σῶν χαρίτων ὁμιλείτω σοι,ἡ δὲ ἰδία ἡγείσθω σου καὶ συνέστω σοι ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ ἐν γὰρ τῇ ταύτης φιλίᾳ συμπεριφερόμενος πολλοστὸς ἔσῃ.
But I admit that there are variant readings in the LXX.

Some are indicated as variants but I wonder why he has chosen to put them in the main body of his polyglot?

I'm not sure why he includes the word in the main text, but most sources I've checked which include professional journals or books, say eros only appears twice (as far as we know) in the LXX. Funny that it evidently does not appear in the book that is all about love between a man and woman--Song of Songs (Song of Solomon).

Just read this study. Thanks for the link. Very interesting. In someways it reminds me of how many avoid the implications of the title el-shaddai because of more modern biases & ways of seeing the world.
